Almost every blogger or website owner thrives to enhance their website’s rankings in the search engine result pages and generate as much traffic as possible. The best possible method of boosting the traffic and decreasing the bounce rate is enhancing the user interface of the site and making it more user-friendly.
We know that Google is the most prominent search engine and almost every website is optimised while keeping in mind the Google’s algorithms which is why Google has created a tool known as the Google Analytics. This tool allows the website owners to get an in-depth data of the actions taken by the user on your website. With the help of this tool, you can get to know details like your traffic stats, who is visiting your profile, what actions do your visitors take when they are on your website, how are those visitors reaching your site and many other things.
All you need to do is integrate your Google Analytics account with your WordPress website, and you will be ready to go. Below we mention the complete process of adding the tool to your website.
The first thing you need to do is sign up for your Google Analytics account. All you need to do is open the Google Analytics website and login with your Gmail account. If you don’t have an account, then you can easily create one by clicking on the Create Account link.
After successfully logging in to the Google Analytics, you will see a screen with the process of beginning to work with the tool. Here you need to click on the Sign-Up button which will be located on the right side of the screen. After pressing the Sign Up button, you will be asked to select from either the mobile app or the website. Since you are using this tool for your website, you need to choose the website and move on to the next step.
In the next step, you need to enter basic information about your website in the given fields. Enter your account name, website name, website URL, industry category, country and the time zone. After you have entered the correct information, you need to press the Get Tracking ID button where you will be redirected to the Google Analytics’ terms and conditions. You need to press the I Agree button and the tool will be ready to use.
Once you agree to the terms and conditions, you will be presented with your unique Google Analytics tracking ID. You need to copy that tracking ID as you need it to connect to your WordPress website.
Now that you have configured the tool and achieved the unique tracking ID, you need to integrate your website using a plugin known as MonsterInsights. This is one of the easiest methods of adding Google Analytics to your WordPress site, and it provides a ton of information as well. You need to head over to the WordPress admin area and navigate to the Plugins> Add New page. Search for the plugin and press the Install Now button. Once you have installed the plugin, all you need to do is click on the activation link, and the plugin will be ready to use.
After activating the plugin, you need to open the admin area and visit the Insights> Settings page. Here you will see many configuration options, but you need to click on the Authenticate with your Google account button. Here you will see a new popup for Google authentication where you need to click on the Next button.
In the next screen, you will be asked to enter your Google code. You can easily obtain the authentication code by clicking on the Click to Get Google Code button. Once you click on the button, you need to press the Allow button to allow the plugin to access your Google Analytics data. As soon as you allow the plugin to gain access, a new window containing the authentication code will pop up.Copy that code and paste it into the plugin screen and press the Next button.
As soon as you click on the Next button, you will be asked to select an analytics profile. Select the profile from the drop-down menu and press the next button. The plugin will now install the tool on your website, and you will be able to access all the information from the WordPress dashboard.
There is another simpler method to add Google Analytics to your website, and that is by using another WordPress plugin named as Insert Headers and Footers. The first step is the same where you need to sign up for the Google Analytics tool and obtain the tracking ID. In addition to that, you need to follow the same process for installing this plugin as well.
Once you have installed and activated the plugin, you need to head over to the WordPress admin area and navigate to the Insert Headers and Footers page. Here you will see two fields; scripts in header and scripts in the footer. Now you need to paste the tracking ID which you copied earlier in the header section. Afterwards, press the Save button, and the plugin will integrate your website with Google Analytics.
You need to manually visit the Google Analytics website to check you reposts as they will not be available in the admin dashboard. All you need to do is open the site, and navigate to the reporting tab. From here, you can keep an eye on the audience, their actions, how many of them are being converted into customers and other similar information.
Google Analytics is one of the best tools available to track the performance of your website. One great thing about this tool is that it is entirely free of cost and always works like a charm. Apart from that, there is a premium version of the MonsterInsights plugin that comes with some additional features like ad tracking, and author tracking. If you want all these features, then you can anytime choose the pro version of this plugin.
